Bratislava Senior Art Academy

Bratislava Senior Art Academy (BSAA) is a unique educational and community-based non-formal learning programme designed for all seniors who wish to explore and develop their artistic potential, regardless of age. The programme is organized by the Capital City of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, in cooperation with Primary Art Schools and Leisure-time Centres under its administration.

BSAA focuses on supporting lifelong learning for seniors, fostering creativity and artistic skills, as well as strengthening social connections, personal growth, and mental well-being. The programme was created as part of the Learning City Bratislava initiative, launched in February 2024 on the occasion of the Capital City of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava joining the prestigious UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.

The programme is intended for seniors aged 62 and above with permanent residence in the Capital City of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, who have an interest in the arts, want to acquire new skills, or build on their previous experience and interests.

Educational activities will be provided by qualified lectors at selected Primary Art Schools and Leisure-time Centres. Emphasis is placed on an individual approach, inclusivity, and creative environment.

Participants may enrol in only one of the following artistic fields:

• Dance
• Visual Arts
• Literary and Drama
• Music – Choral Singing
• Music – Ensemble Performance
• Music – Instrumental Performance

Education will be provided through individual or group sessions. Participants who meet the defined requirements will become graduates and will receive a certificate of completion at a formal ceremonial graduation after completing the two-year study programme.

Participation in BSAA is free of charge, with limited capacity for each artistic field.
